The news: The European Commission (EC) is aiming to enact minimal fines against Apple and Meta to avoid escalating tensions with US President Donald Trump, per The Financial Times.

  • The regulatory agency is now more focused on compliance with the EU’s Digital Markets Act (DMA) rather than financial penalties.
  • An announcement is expected the week of March 31 on what, if any, fines will be imposed, per Ars Technica.
